WHAT IS IT?

 

Youth in Europe is a 24-months Euro­pean Youth Togeth­er project that involves five organ­i­sa­tions from five Euro­pean Union coun­tries (Croa­t­ia, Ire­land, Italy, Lithua­nia and Spain). The main aim of the project is to raise aware­ness among youth lead­ers and young peo­ple on the impor­tance of edu­ca­tion on Euro­pean cit­i­zen­ship, with spe­cial empha­sis on the prin­ci­ples, val­ues and func­tion­ing of the Euro­pean Union, as a basis for demo­c­ra­t­ic con­struc­tion and active civic par­tic­i­pa­tion.

The main objec­tives of the project are:
‑To improve youth lead­ers’ and young peo­ple’s knowl­edge and under­stand­ing of the his­to­ry, sym­bols, insti­tu­tions and poli­cies of the Euro­pean Union;
‑To design prac­ti­cal edu­ca­tion­al tools for youth lead­ers to dis­sem­i­nate knowl­edge about the Euro­pean Union through a method­ol­o­gy based on non-for­mal edu­ca­tion;
‑To empow­er young peo­ple for active and demo­c­ra­t­ic par­tic­i­pa­tion with­in the Euro­pean frame­work;
‑To build a space for debate and reflec­tion between young peo­ple, youth work­ers, pol­i­cy mak­ers and experts on the impor­tance of increas­ing knowl­edge on the Euro­pean Union;
‑To cre­ate a net­work of organ­i­sa­tions from five Euro­pean coun­tries that are aware of the impor­tance of young peo­ple’s active par­tic­i­pa­tion for build­ing a more inclu­sive, sus­tain­able and demo­c­ra­t­ic Europe.

Dura­tion of the project: 01/01/2023 – 31/12/2024 [24 months]

The main activ­i­ties of the project are:
-Coor­di­na­tion meet­ings in Italy and Lithua­nia;
‑Diag­no­sis on Euro­pean Cit­i­zen­ship Edu­ca­tion in five coun­tries;
-Meet­ings in each coun­try with young peo­ple, youth work­ers and experts;
‑Iden­ti­fi­ca­tion and col­lec­tion of good prac­tices;
‑Analy­sis of learn­ing needs;
-Sem­i­nar in Croa­t­ia;
‑Map­ping and meet­ings with stake­hold­ers;
‑Cre­ation and imple­men­ta­tion of an Online Train­ing Course for youth lead­ers on (1) His­to­ry of Euro­pean inte­gra­tion; (2) Val­ues and sym­bols of the Euro­pean Union; (3) EU Insti­tu­tions and their func­tion­ing; (4) Poli­cies and Pro­grammes; (5) Active youth par­tic­i­pa­tion;
-Work­shops in each project coun­try;
-Con­test “Unit­ed in the knowl­edge of Europe”;
‑Pre­sen­ta­tion in Brus­sels of the pro­pos­als;
-Mul­ti­pli­er Events in each coun­try;
‑Final eval­u­a­tion meet­ing and Con­fer­ence in Spain.

This project will have an impact both on par­tic­i­pants (new com­pe­tences acquired and/or improved, per­son­al and pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment, etc.), on the organ­i­sa­tions (use of new com­pe­tences and tools, exchange of good prac­tices, cre­ation of new prod­ucts, bet­ter qual­i­ty and effi­cien­cy, etc.), and on soci­ety in gen­er­al (greater aware­ness of the impor­tance of active par­tic­i­pa­tion and cit­i­zen­ship edu­ca­tion, new tools to facil­i­tate the knowl­edge on the Euro­pean Union, greater inter­est in the project top­ics, etc.).
