WHAT IS IT?
Youth in Europe is a 24-months European Youth Together project that involves five organisations from five European Union countries (Croatia, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania and Spain). The main aim of the project is to raise awareness among youth leaders and young people on the importance of education on European citizenship, with special emphasis on the principles, values and functioning of the European Union, as a basis for democratic construction and active civic participation.
The main objectives of the project are:
‑To improve youth leaders’ and young people’s knowledge and understanding of the history, symbols, institutions and policies of the European Union;
‑To design practical educational tools for youth leaders to disseminate knowledge about the European Union through a methodology based on non-formal education;
‑To empower young people for active and democratic participation within the European framework;
‑To build a space for debate and reflection between young people, youth workers, policy makers and experts on the importance of increasing knowledge on the European Union;
‑To create a network of organisations from five European countries that are aware of the importance of young people’s active participation for building a more inclusive, sustainable and democratic Europe.
Duration of the project: 01/01/2023 – 31/12/2024 [24 months]
The main activities of the project are:
-Coordination meetings in Italy and Lithuania;
‑Diagnosis on European Citizenship Education in five countries;
-Meetings in each country with young people, youth workers and experts;
‑Identification and collection of good practices;
‑Analysis of learning needs;
-Seminar in Croatia;
‑Mapping and meetings with stakeholders;
‑Creation and implementation of an Online Training Course for youth leaders on (1) History of European integration; (2) Values and symbols of the European Union; (3) EU Institutions and their functioning; (4) Policies and Programmes; (5) Active youth participation;
-Workshops in each project country;
-Contest “United in the knowledge of Europe”;
‑Presentation in Brussels of the proposals;
-Multiplier Events in each country;
‑Final evaluation meeting and Conference in Spain.
This project will have an impact both on participants (new competences acquired and/or improved, personal and professional development, etc.), on the organisations (use of new competences and tools, exchange of good practices, creation of new products, better quality and efficiency, etc.), and on society in general (greater awareness of the importance of active participation and citizenship education, new tools to facilitate the knowledge on the European Union, greater interest in the project topics, etc.).
